About CORE Butte High School
Core Butte High School serves approximately 400 high school students from Butte County and the surrounding counties. Our students use the flexibility of independent study to explore a personalized path that best meets their needs. Students can take coursework through independent study, teacher-guided classes, online learning platforms, as well as college coursework through our local university and community college.
CORE Butte High School is accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and has been recognized as a California Gold Ribbon School.
Academic Programs
CORE Butte High School offers two academic programs that allow staff to serve the specific needs of our students. Both programs offer options for students to personalize their experience.
Home Study Program
Our Home Study program offers an option for students who are looking for a more traditional independent study program.
Students complete most work independently at home
Students meet regularly with teacher to turn in completed work
Students may choose paper and pencil based courses or online courses
Students can take up to one teacher guided class at the center
Students can take classes through Butte College Concurrent Enrollment or Chico State High School Scholars
Hybrid Program
Our Hybrid program combines some traditional classroom elements with some of the flexibility that independent study offers. Students can take classes at the resource center that are teacher driven courses. These class schedule is similar to a college schedule where students attend in-person a few days a week and work from home the other days.
Students take 3 or more teacher-led classes at the Resource Center
Students are enrolled in a Homeroom advisory class
Students will still take some courses through complete independent study
Students can take classes through Butte College Concurrent Enrollment or Chico State High School Scholars
About our Resource Center
At CORE Butte High School we believe that learning can happen in many different places, not just in a school building. However, we do have a brand new resource center that offers a variety of classes and support to our high school students. Some of these options include:
Teacher-led classes that meet weekly on a schedule similar to a college. Most classes have 16-20 students.
Weekly advisory period for Hybrid Program students to receive important information and connect with their Personalized Learning Teacher.
Meetings and classes for students with Individualized Educational Plans (IEP)
Student Support Lab for students who are referred for support time
Teacher offices and classrooms for the regular parent, student, and teacher meetings to discuss student progress.
Gym and Fields for Events and Athletics
CORE Butte High School offers a variety of college-prep courses as well as an array of options for elective courses including American Sign Language, Theater, Music, and Art.
